the wonders of blogging
by MeL on April 3, 2005
it’s again another lazy sunday morning. Flipped open the newspaper and was reading through it. i almost flip when i read this column featuring the celebrity blogger, ms.xiaxue. The most peculiar thing is that after finish reading the entire column, i’m left was many “??” marks on my head – what exactly is she trying to say or what exactly is she talking about?
Of course, the tiny-me doesn’t have the right to criticise someone that’s consider the demi-gawd of blogganation, especially when tiny-me didn’t even have a fraction of her total entries. But since i’ve got nothing to lose, why not take a shot?
Make no mistake. I’ve got plenty of respect for this demi-gawd of blogganation. She commands a daily following of 9500 readers a day (damn, 9 times more than what my site does after working hard for years), has got endorsement deals (the closest i get to clinching an endorsement deal is probably singing to the tune of the tv advertisement), gets to become a guest-writer for newspapers and magazines (my only audience is/are only you, you and you) and gets voted the Best Asian Blog of the Year (bah..my only chance would only be when they decide to setup a new category for 2005 – Dumbest Asian Blog of the Year).
So what’s next? releasing an album ala mr.taufik? acting in a ‘Master of the Seas 2′ ? Seems like the sky is the limit for a famous blogger. This is the probably the cheapest way (no negative tone intended) to become a celebrity. You don’t need to fill in application forms and go for interviews like Ms Singapore Universe. You don’t need to beg your relatives and friends to dial your number to ensure you come back every week for the next round of Singapore Idol. You don’t need to be able to sing-dance-&-act to become the winner like in the Star Search. You just needa sign up on Blogger‘s electronic form and what’s more, it’s Free!
footnote: thank gawd i’m neither a doctor nor a real writer, so i’m spared the rod…
